VN-2000 ⇄ WGS84 Geodesic Engine · National 7-parameter Helmert set

Coordinate converter VN-2000 ⇄ Maps WGS84

Convert land-plot vertices from the land title into real longitude & latitude. Automatically detects the central meridian across the 63 old provinces, swaps X/Y order, closes the boundary polygon and measures the area for comparison.

Geodesy knowledge & the VN-2000 coordinate standard

How do VN-2000 and WGS84 differ?

VN-2000 is Vietnam’s national coordinate system (Transverse Mercator projection, adjusted WGS84 ellipsoid), expressed in metres (X: northing, Y: easting). While WGS84 is the global GPS coordinate system used by Maps WGS84, expressed in decimal degrees. Conversion between the two uses the national 7-parameter Helmert set issued under Decision 05/2007/QĐ-BTNMT.

Why must you pick the right central meridian?

Each province/city in Vietnam has its own central meridian (KTT), set by Circular 973/2001/TT-TCĐC. Being off by a single KTT step (15 arc-minutes) shifts the position on the ground by tens of kilometres. DatNgop’s tool detects the KTT automatically by checking that the position falls inside a real ward/commune boundary.

How to read the coordinate table on a land title

On page 3 or 4 of the land-use right certificate, the coordinate table lists vertices 1, 2, 3... Many titles print column X (millions, from ~950,000 m to ~2,550,000 m) and column Y (hundreds of thousands, ~300,000 m to ~800,000 m). The system detects this automatically and swaps the axes if you paste them the wrong way round.
