FAQ about the 2025 administrative mergers

When does the new 2-level address structure apply?

The 2-level administrative structure (Province/City → Ward/Commune, with the District level removed) took effect on 1 July 2025 with 34 provinces/cities and 3,321 wards/communes nationwide.

Why can’t some old addresses be matched to an exact new ward/commune?

Some old wards/communes have no exact centre coordinates. The system then infers from the district centre: the new province/city is always accurate, while the new ward/commune is only an approximation.

What data are the results based on?

Results are based on the official 2025 GeoJSON spatial boundary database, matched with a Point-in-Polygon algorithm on real coordinates to avoid name clashes between provinces.

Can I share or export the results?

Yes. Every result has a “Share result” button that creates a direct (deep) link and a “Copy address” button for pasting into paperwork or property contracts.
